‡ Friendship: 3 Thoughts ‡

Whatever I write here is purely my opinion about my own life and all. No hating, no bashing. Just simply what I think from my point of view so, if you're willing to read this post -- which I really appreciate, feel free to disagree with me.

Everyone has their own opinion, right?

So, here's the thing. Friendship. What do you have in mind when I mention that one word?

Childhood friends. Schoolmates. College friends. Colleagues. Birthday parties. Hanging out on weekend. Going on a trip together. Doing crazy stuff. Exchanging stories. Reunion. And more.

As for me, if I must break down my friendship stories, they will be something like these:

Elementary school - the days when I barely thought about anything. Playing around with every kid I met at school. Having fun during break time. Celebrating birthdays at mall with other kids. I just befriended anyone I could.

Junior high school - here's the moment I came to call someone as best friend. Okay, not someone. In fact I still have five persons I acknowledge as my best friends. We rarely meet other. Around once in a year but, for me, it's not about how frequent we meet each other. We appreciate our own lives and, when we're together, we appreciate our friendship which lasts so long.

Senior high school - I realized that the world is simply not as innocent as I thought. I'm not saying I hate my high school days. I treasure so many moments, met a lot of different friends, but, to be honest, I don't really know if I have anyone to call as my best friend nor they think of me as one. For some people. high school is unforgettable. For me, high school taught me life is not easy.

College - Irreplaceable. That's the word I will use to describe my friendship moments during college days. I wrote some posts about HIMSISFO, the student organization I joined for around three years, and the friendships I have with each of the members are just amazing. I also have classmates who I still meet so frequently up until today.

Now, to the 3 thoughts I mention in the title.

#1. Good friends will always stick with you through anything
This sounds cliche but this statement also becomes a mindset for some people. Books and movies display this kind of thought. A friend who runs through the rain for you, someone who will stay up till the morning to give you a birthday surprise, people who will sacrifice their weekend just because you ask them to.

I'm not saying that it's stupid or ridiculous. I think it's sweet but I don't think it's a necessary. Of course I want them to be with me when I need them but, hey, they have lives to live. Besides it's not only me who have problems. Maybe, when they need me, I'm not there for them too so, well, no hard feeling if they don't do what best friends do in movies.

For an example, like what you know, we're different from other people. I like reading books, my friend don't. They like drinking, I don't. I like Korean stuff, they don't. They like make-ups and beauty stuff, I don't. I'm cool with it. Why?

Because when I want to go to bookstores, they'll go with me. When I tell them about watching Korean concert, they'll listen to me. So when they talk about drinking, I open my ears for them. When they want to look for beauty shop, I'll walk in with them.

They don't need to stick with me just because I want them to.

But I know they'll be there when I need them the most.

#2. A good friend never talk about you behind your back
It's never good to talk bad about people behind them. Not to mention if it's your own friend. Oh, I went through that already and it felt awful. However, note the point, it's talking bad which is not right. Bashing, hating, looking down. Good friends don't talk about us as annoying and childish person when they tell the otherwise in front of us.

I, myself, think it's totally fine to talk about your own friends behind them. I do that sometimes. Like what I said in previous point, we're so different that sometimes I just don't get the reason. I complaint, we discuss, and we reach one point. I appreciate differences because I think that's definitely what make a friendship even stronger.

If they tell me what they don't like about me, it's fine. I'm not perfect. If you expect your friends to give you sweet words and compliment, you're not going to be a better person. Well, sometimes I also have bad thoughts like the possibility of them not thinking of me as a best friend, that they don't like me but choose to keep silence.

You know what?

My faith in them breaks the doubt to pieces.

#3. It's the best to have a lover who can be your best friend at the same time
Unlike the two points above, I agree with this thought. It's like one of the most wanted point in a boyfriend or girlfriend you want. Or at least some people think so but, perhaps, it depends on your favorite dating style as well.

What I'm going to add in the statement is "...and someone who can blend in with my best friends."

Okay, most of dating couples will prefer to have weekends with their loved ones and I don't think it's strange but, as strange as it sounds, I would love to spend weekends with him and my best friends too. Because the hours I spend with them just to do nothing, wandering around just to spend times together, having lunches and dinners together and have a good laugh... I don't think I'll let those moments slip away for romantic moments.

Nah, I'm not a romantic type. I don't have a boyfriend now so you can say I'm writing this because I don't know how it feels yet but, from my experience, I don't think this opinion of mine will ever change. Besides isn't it better to have ten people having fun than two person only?

Well, in the end of this post, I just want to say thanks to all of my friends who have been parts of my life. They made me who I am today. They filled my pages of life story and I keep them in heart. Sometimes I'm not the best friend you can have but, just so you know, you're my friends and this can't be argued over.

For all the good days.
For all the difficult moments.
For all the joy we shared.
For all trouble we faced.

Thanks God, for being so good to me with all the amazing people around me.

Thanks, my friends. :)

‡ HIMSISFO 9th Anniversary ‡

HIMSISFO.
Himpunan Mahasiswa Sistem Informasi.
Information System Student Community.
BINUS University.
Officially established on 13 May 2004.

I joined HIMSISFO on 2008, during my first year as a college student, choosing Human Resources Development as my commission.
Promoted to be a secretary on 2010 then officially became an alumnus on 2011.

HIMSISFO is definitely one of the irreplaceable parts of my life. Within 3 years, there were so many unforgettable memories and all happening while I was an active member of HIMSISFO.
I am not going to say that all of them are happy-go-lucky memories. Some of them are quite heart-wrenching, others are just emotional, but I am very grateful to remember all of them.

I learned about teamwork, togetherness, professionalism, time management, understanding, strategic planning, and, on top of all, I have a family.
A big family.
A family that will always be a part of me.

As time goes by, of course, the family grows bigger.
It would be difficult to remember older alumni and I slowly understand how it feels.
However, to know that our successors are doing their very best, I feel good for them.

Today, though it's a little bit late, like what HIMSISFO always celebrates every year, there's an anniversary party for the 9th birthday.
I attended the event with some other alumni and realized that there were so many people I don't know now.
To be honest, it feels a little bit lonely since I miss the moments of being a part of active members.

However, I couldn't help but to have a smile when I noticed that everyone celebrated the birthday happily, wishing for nothing but the best for HIMSISFO.
I reminded myself that what really matters the most is what I really feel.

I had my moments.
I had my exciting moments as a new member, an activist who knew barely nothing and got guidance from the older.
I had my challenging moments as the officer, trying to show what I was capable of while enjoying the moments.
I had my hard but I-would-never-trade-them-for-anything moments as the secretary, knowing that my responsibility was not about myself only.

It's their moment now.

And there is nothing I would wish for but to ask for them having the best moments.
Be it good, sad, heartbreaking, exciting.
One day, when they look back, they will treasure it.

Just like I treasure every step I walked on ever since 2008.

Until now.

Today is the last day of February 2013.
It feels like I just wrote my first blog post a week ago but, actually, two months have passed. Ah, time flies, doesn't it?

So, New Year is long gone, January has closed the curtain, the Chinese New Year on February 10 has passed, and Valentine's Day has kissed its goodbye.
We're going to face March pretty soon and, I believe, many surprises are awaiting for us.

What's up with my title?
It's just random topic in mind but I'll try to write it my best to entertain you. I hope so. It's about my opinion and what famous quotations stated.

On March 2, probably I will attend a wedding party of my colleague with my partner.
I'm currently twenty-one years old now; gonna be twenty-two in less than three months though.
Most of my friends already have lovers or, if I might say, their possible partners-in-life.
This fact actually leads question from some old acquaintances here and there, implying that I'm on a state where I should have a candidate as well.

Some quotes stated that love would come when the time was right, but I guess when you just sat still and waited, you had no right to complaint if your expectation didn't fulfill your wishes.
The thing here is I don't have the urge to dive in lovey dovey stuff.
No, it's not a bad thing. It's not that I have trauma or else. It's just that I don't feel it's the right time. Yet.

Sure, I will be attacked by the words 'you'll never know if you don't try' or 'if you don't have the right time, then make it'. I agree with those sentences but I also think that there are times when you're not supposed to force yourself in doing what you don't believe in.
I'm not a kid anymore but I'm still young enough to think carefully about my future. I don't want to rush myself; I'll take my time but, of course, I'm not supposed to waste my time either.

On March 9, I will go to attend Music Bank in Jakarta with one of my best friends.
Some would probably say I just waste my money for temporary entertainment like the popular K-Pop wave around nowadays.

I'm not going to defend myself with words like 'you don't know me', 'it's my hobby, so what?', or 'it's my life so screw you'.
As my alibi, here's one. People have their own choices to make themselves happy.
You may spend your time with books, catch up with movies, shop with friends, enjoy fancy dinner with lovers, go out of the country with family, or else.
It's a necessary that you need to make yourself enjoy your life in a way you can and I choose one of these hobbies of mine as the choice: supporting my idols by attending their concert.

People will not believe if I say the idols have changed my life but it's true and I know it is.
I got to know many new friends, I learned life lessons, and I understood what I should never understood before.
But, well, I guess I just want to have fun?

On March 26, it will mark one year since I started to work in my current company.
It is true that I'm one of lucky persons out there to have a permanent job with good friends around. The office is near from my house and the salary is good as well.

However I'm not going to lie by saying I really love my job or it's the best thing I experience. Because it's not.
I don't fall in love with it. Not even for the slightest.

Please note that it doesn't mean I don't do my job sincerely. I do my best with whatever I can because it's my job.
It's not that the job is bad but I guess my passion is just not in this place.

I read somewhere before that it's not impossible to make 'what you love - your passion' as your job. However I also read the opposite topic that 'do what you love' is a really bad advice career.
I actually must agree with both articles.

When you don't love your job, there is this part of you which doesn't feel satisfied with everything. Something is missing and you have no idea how to fill the emptiness.
Oh, yes, I am suffering it as well.

However it is also true that 'passion is not something you follow'. One said 'passion is something that will follow you as you put in the hard work to become valuable to the world'. And it makes sense, right?
Future is a really important thing and so does your passion but, well, career passions are rare.
Just because you love it, doesn't really mean you can live with it as your root of life. It's possible but there's no kind of scientific formula for the result.

What I'm trying to say here is I don't regret this job I have now. I'm very grateful despite the fact I'm not having my dream job.
Why?
Simply because I know there are so many things I still don't understand and I must know them in times. Teamwork, interpersonal skill, communication, leadership, and so many to mention.

How could I think like that?
Because Information System is also not my favorite choice to have as a major during college days but, if I didn't go on with it, I would never met all people in HIMSISFO, people who had changed my life so much.
That's why I know these moments are moments I need to treasure.

One day I will look back and be thankful for having this job.

Hopefully when I have my dream job...?

;)

How about you?

Anyway, I want to give a very happy birthday greeting to Valentcia Trifonia who celebrates her twenty-third birthday today!
Thanks for being a really good friend for me.
I wish you all the best in life and may happiness be your best companion.
God bless you.

credit goes to here and here and here and here

As you can see, the first part is up and it's more about my own personal life: graduation, birthday, and work life. Then what am I going to write in this part?

The important sides of my life which I don't include in the first.
Example? My hobbies, my second family, and so on.

First of all, HIMSISFO.
If you read my previous posts somewhere somehow, I mentioned the word quite a lot. Let me sum what HIMSISFO is: my second family.
Call me exaggerating or else, I don't care, because that's the truth.

Actually I became an alumnus on November 2011 but I was given the responsibility as one of four advisers.
However the new President has been elected on 30 September 2012. The new team has formed and I will wait for the official inauguration for sure before I write down all the names.

For some it may seem that I got myself too much in the campus organization life but, guess what, I love it. In fact I miss those days when I needed to think fast and make a decision together, those nights when I was too busy that I couldn't even have enough sleep times,  and those moments when I was together with HIMSISFO-ers.
Those times are irreplaceable. I mean it.

I'll do what I can, with what I have for HIMSISFO, despite the fact that I'm already an alumnus now. The family will grow bigger and better; I believe so.

As for second issue, it's more about my hobbies.
Lately (or perhaps since forever) writing has became one of the best activities I ever do. Of course reading is included but, hey, writing is so fun that I think it's impossible not to write at least once in a week... or maybe more.

This is connected to my favor for K-Pop.
Super Junior. BEAST. INFINITE. And so on. I can't even mention it one by one. The tracks on my playlist keep increasing and I can't stop it.

Some might say I'm being childish, throwing money for fun, for those artists who just look good and have no talents, but I must say that you should not judge the book from the cover.
Probably some people are like that but some are not either. For example, me.

I love music and I do not exclude K-Pop just because I don't understand the language.
If the music is good, the lyrics are meaningful, the dance is fun, why can we love it?
I love some idols but it's not only because of their looks. Though some said it's just their acts in front of public, I can't listen to all those hateful comments.
Being objective is needed sometimes; I admire some idols for their attitudes and I think there is nothing wrong with that, isn't it?

So, yes, I write in English, one of the best ways to enhance my bad English skill, just like what I'm doing right now.
I wish I can do so much better in the future for everything!

Anyway I'm going to read a novel now.
I don't know how interesting it can be till the very end but the novel's title is "A Very Yuppy Wedding" by Ika Natassa. ;)

Therefore I bid goodbye for now.
See you on my next post someday! :D

‡ Lessons of 2011 ‡

It's 31 December 2011,
meaning it's the last day of 2011.
2012 is just so close to us now.

2011 is a really, really memorable year for me.
I know, I said it every year, but I do mean it this time.
Why?

Let's start with my review for every month in 2011.
I am indeed wondering which one is my most memorable month actually. ;)

January,
the first month of 2011 where I had my IS Minor Project result.
It is a really memorable month. I can still remember how nervous I was that day.

February,
a month where I started my sixth semester at Binus.
Things were going really different. When I said 'really', I mean it.
At the end of February, I went out of city for IS Gathering.
Simply memorable event, if I may say. :)

March,
I tried to be a Promotion Assistant for 2 days at BINUS Job Expo and I learned that every work deserves its own price.
Work hard, own more. As simple as that.

April,
AIESEC, the largest student organization in the world, attended BINUS University for the event of Asean Youth Congress on 25 - 27 April 2011.
This is really memorable since I was quite inspired by the event in one and another way.
This also included about realizing that English is really important for me.

May,
One of three most memorable months for me.
I celebrated my 20th birthday party this year; talking about irony, this is the first time I received a surprise birthday cake and I'm completely grateful whenever I remember it. (24 May 2011)
HIMSISFO COMPETITION 2011 also went on this month and we succeed to hold the event at Pluit Junction Mall; this is my last time to participate as a committee and, yes, I cried that night. (8 May - 22 May 2011). It's also the last time I celebrate HIMSISFO Birthday as a committee. (15 May 2011)
This month I also went to Taman Bunga Nusantara with my classmates and there are one thing and another which make me want to always remember that rainy day. (2 May 2011)

June,
I can't really remember but I think this month is where my life started to take the turning point.
Slightly but sure. I started to understand that everything didn't seem like how it was.

July,
There is a slight difference during this July.
I usually had to work on HIMSISFO tasks only but this time I also welcomed the new students, called by Binusian.
There are many new experiences I faced and, of course, I never regretted the decision I made by joining for Freshmen Enrichment Program for sure.

August,
It's been a month after I joined a site where I can do my passion, writing stories.
I never thought it would be really affecting my life but on August, I realized that passion is a really influencing point in life.
This month I wrote stories more and more just to find that there are people who love to read my writings.
How does it feel? Amazing.

September,
This is the other most memorable month for me.
HIMSISFO Election was being held on 25 September 2011 and the new Chief of HIMSISFO was elected that day.
A new page started on the day.
Why is it really memorable?
I can't even explain it with words.

October,
This is the moment when I realized that when I'm out of a circle, things are different.
I learned to see things in different perspective; I learned that I could be better if only I tried.

November,
Writing became more an more addicting to me.
The good news is my English improves and the bad news is I start to forget about my main tasks. Even up till this moment.

December,
the last month of 2011 and also the most memorable month for me.
Within days I grew to understand that I am the one who decides what I want to be.
There are bad things left behind, good things abandoned in the past,
but everything depends on me, whether I want to take it as a life lesson or not.

If I must put 5 words of 2011, I can write it pretty much simple down here.

1. HIMSISFO
My second family. Forever and always.
Though I'm not a committee anymore, I will always support the best and give my best as much as I can for HIMSISFO.

2. BEAST
BEAST, an idol group which has changed my life for sure.
I know it's sound kind of ridiculous. How can people who are out of your reach even changed your life?
Because I learned from them. I put that simple.

3. Stories
I read stories. I write stories. I exchange ideas.
I learned a lot from stories and I had new friends for that.
I just need to adjust my time management.
By sharing my writing I learned to appreciate people more and have confidence over myself.

4. Friendship
Friends become a really important and irreplaceable value in my life.
Within 2011 I shared many things with friends and I've been reminded that friends don't mean acting all good in front of each other;
you may be different, you may have a fight, but in the end you always support each other for the best.

5. Love
Who said that one can't survive with a relationship?
A lot of people can break down that sentence I guess, including me.
I will be lying if I said I never fell for one this year but I can never be more grateful than how I am right now after everything happened.

Lessons learned from 2011?
Everything has been described pretty well up there but if I must write it down in one sentence, I will write it this way.

"Not everything is how it seems."

There must be a time where you think this person must be really happy but who knows that he doesn't happy with his life, despite the fact that he is smiling everyday?

There must be a chance where you look down at someone and think your life is better than him but perhaps one day you will want to take that back when you see that he is always grateful by each day he lives on.

Happiness is something measured with our own perspectives.

One note that I must take and always bring even in future, 'Grateful'.

I will never forget to be grateful and stop to regret about the past.
The past can't be changed but we still have a chance to do something for our future.

How's about your 2011?

Happy New Year's Eve everyone ! :)

Tidak bermaksud meninggalkan tapi terkadang suka ga sempet buat posting blog panjang lebar sih;
tapi kalau sekedar pikiran2 singkat,
sering gw share di Infini , tumblr gw.
Mungkin bisa dikunjungi kalau berniat. Haha.

First of all, Regenerasi HIMSISFO secara resmi sudah dilakukan pada tanggal 11 November 2011.
Tanggalnya bagus banget ya? Haha.

Sebenarnya sih ga seperti dugaan gw, gw ga nangis pas hari itu.
Padahal gw sudah menduga bakalan nangis loh, haha.
Tapi ya pas Rapat Jumat terakhir gw sudah meneteskan air mata sih~ *lebay ? gpp de . haha*

Berasa banget sekarang bedanya pas masih join organisasi dan ga;
gw berasa semangat kerja gw lenyap~ haha.
Emang dasarnya gw pemalas x ya?
Tapi yang berasa sih kangennn... kangennn banget!

But, hey, life goes on!
HIMSISFO is always my family. :D

Second thing sih skripsi gw makin mendekati deadline.
Akhir bulan Januari udah mesti beresresres dan sekarang nasibnya lagi sedikit ga jelas.
Bisa dipastikan gw akan menghabiskan waktu gw di bulan Januari untuk skripsi;
demi kelulusan pastinya !

which is merupakan hal penting buat sekarang ini? haha.

Last but not least, gw makin kepikiran, abis lulus gw mau kerja apaan ya?

Congratulations to

Astrid as the President of HIMSISFO for 2011/2012

and

Regi as the Vice President of HIMSISFO for 2011/2012

Selama pemilu tadi, jantung gw berdetak ga karuan,
bukan karena gw ga percaya sama mereka,
tapi karena gw tau mereka semua berkompeten,
mereka semua mampu dan sanggup.

Dan gw sayang mereka semua.

*ga lebay loh ya~ tapi maap kalau jadi agak ga enak badan abis bacanya. :p*

I love HIMSISFO. Really.

And I know both of you will give your best for HIMSISFO.
Both of you and all of us, HIMSISFO-ers.
Because we love HIMSISFO, right?

dan yang pasti thanks God for blessing us with blessed day.

Astrid, Edwin, Regi,
three of you are awesome. amazing. adorable.

I mean it~ :)

Give the best for HIMSISFO!

‡ Holiday 2011 | Pt II - HIMSISFO ‡

PART II: Bunga Rampai & AKSI HIMSISFO

Bunga Rampai & EXPO tahun ini adalah yang terakhir bisa gw tangani sebagai panitia;

Congratulations to:

Ardi Tanura selaku Ketua Bunga Rampai & EXPO HIMSISFO 2011
Florencia Irena selaku Wakil Ketua Bunga Rampai & EXPO HIMSISFO 2011

Andrew Febrianto selaku Koord Divisi Support Bunga Rampai & EXPO HIMSISFO 2011
Setiawan Arief selaku Koord Divisi Publikasi & Dokumentasi Bunga Rampai & EXPO HIMSISFO 2011

Congratulations to:

Yediva Kovara as Ketua AKSI 2011
Angela Kumala as Wakil Ketua AKSI 2011

Indriani Wongso as Koord Sponsor & Humas AKSI 2011

Both team of Bunga Rampai and AKSI 2011 make me proud;
I'm proud to be a part of the teams.

Thanks HIMSISFO-ers,
thanks all participants of Bunga Rampai, EXPO, and AKSI 2011,

‡ Random Things ‡

#HOLIDAY...?
Mahasiswa baru BINUS alias Binusian 2015 akan mulai masa orientasi, kalau kerennya sih Freshmen Enrichment Program, senin depan.

Gelombang 1 dimulai 11 Juli,
Gelombang 2 dimulai 18 Juli,
Gelombang 3 dimulai 25 Juli,
Gelombang 4 dimulai 8 Agustus.

Gw juga ketemu banyak orang baru;

Semangat, HIMSISFO-ers! :D:D:D

#PERSONAL
Setelah liburan tiba, jiwa anti-social gw malah muncul.

Gw lebih memilih browsing dan baca ini itu ketimbang posting di sana sini;

Mostly, I'm working on AsianFanFic,

Kalau belum, segera cek deh Google+.
UI nya keren dan gw sendiri sedang uji coba sih. :D

wish me luck. :D

+Lyrics of the day+
Don't you like to smile? along with everyone.
You're a part of something and identity is gone!
Acting with the rest, cause they tell you what is right,
Even if I stay unheard fighting it, at least I've tried!
(Smile Along by Question Mark)
